Love Lazy Gator – I love the lazy gator bar! Great scenery, food is good, people are friendly, and it's an nice change of pace from normal bars. The main bar is open on the weekends but they have a smaller bar that serves everything you’d need. Stop by when you’re in the area, you won't be disappointed.

"Off the Beaten Path" – Black Hammock is off the beaten path, located on Lake Jessup. It’s a great place to get away, have a drink, eat some gator tail, and watch the sunset on the lake.

"Amazing!!!" – We had the best time ever! It was our first trip to black hammock and it was such a wonderful experience! My son loved being the Co pilot on the air boat ride….and had such a fabulous time looking for alligators!!! The food was awesome, and we even tricked my son into tasting alligator….he said it was some really good chicken! !! = we intend on going back the next time we are in Oviedo. [Which needs to be soon, Buffalo, NY is getting WAY TOO COLD!!!]
"Great, worth the money" – I'm an outdoor person, and I enjoyed my airboat ride. Saw several gators, but was disappointed not to see a big one in the wild. For most part you travel, with a few stops near the marshes and you get to take a pic with a wild baby gator on your hand./

"Black Hammock Restaurant" – This past summer, I made it my goal to experience as much of my home state as possible, no matter how “unique” these experiences were. Black Hammock definitely qualifies as a "unique experience," but it is one I'm definitely glad I had.
Who knew not even five miles from my front door in Suburbia lay the untamed Florida wilderness, complete with winding dirt roads that lead to nowhere, mansions built in the middle of swamps, and a restaurant that butts up to one of the biggest lakes in Central Florida? That’s where I found Black Hammock Restaurant, nestled on the shore of gator-infested Lake Jesup. I’ve lived in Oviedo for 14 years, and passed the signs for it HUNDREDS of times. This summer, I was finally brave enough to venture in.
The decor is exactly what you would expect from a restaurant whose menu prominently features the very creature that lives in both the lake and the exhibits outside: gator heads, baby gators in an aquarium, a small statue of a fisherman that looks like Sean Connery, and life preservers I assume (hope) have never been used. But this just adds to the atmosphere; this is Old Florida at its finest.
For starters, I ordered the Gator Nuggets (Florida Style aka breaded and deep fried) and the frog legs (prepared the same way). Both dishes were a first for me; the gator nuggets are to this day one of the strangest and best-tasting food I’ve ever had. The frog-legs, while a little oily, were still good, but the concept of what they really were was hard to get over. Otherwise, it’s just a greasy chicken wing. Finally, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, and loaded with toppings. I would DEFINITELY order it again!
Be sure you stop by the gift shop! Although it is small, they have some cool Black Hammock “memorabilia!” Next time, maybe I’ll be brave enough to go on one of the restaurant’s airboat tours. This way, I’ll be able to MEET my dinner face to face…
…if I don’t become its dinner first.
“Awesome Awesome-ness” – We got up early for an airboat ride and had a great time. We saw an alligator swimming in the water while we waited for our ride, and a bunch of white birds were all around us. The captain was funny, and he had a bunch of interesting information to share about the lake during the ride. We saw lots of wildlife and just flat out enjoyed the ride. We got to hold an alligator after the ride, and eat alligator at the restaurant. I am definatly going to be returning with some reinforcements. We had a blast and didn’t even make it to the bar yet!
“On the Fringe of Florida” – Originally from Ohio, my daughter stayed in Orlando after graduating from UCF. She had her rehearsal dinner at the Black Hammock. This was a real treat for all the out-of-towners. This place is the Old Florida that I remember from back in the 1950′s and 1960′s. We had visits from a gator and a parrot. Took airboat rides. Danced to a really great band. The staff was very professional. The mood was fun and just a little bit crazy. Go there even if you’re not getting married!

“Fascinating Tour of Lake Jesup” – Went for the 30 minute airboat tour this morning, with Capt. Tony, and had a great time. Sighted many different varieties of birds, with the Ospreys being particularly active this morning. Saw quite a few gators, mostly young ones.
Tony was a very knowledgeable guide, stopping frequently to point out wildlife and natural features along the shoreline.

“Awesome Time!” – We live only a few miles from Black Hammock Adventures and we had never been until we recently had friends from California visit us. We had no idea where to take them that would be different from the tourist park experience. My husband was hesitant on doing this but he agreed to try it out. on 5/23 we took a 1/2 hour ride and it was absolutely AWESOME! Our Guide was great, friendly, funny and knowledgeable which made our experience all the better. The bar, shop and overall experience with the staff and critters made our friends visit such a great pleasure. I personally enjoyed my visit with one of the macaws in a cage that had me scratching his neck for a good 20 minutes. I fell in love. So, we will be back many more times. This is a Great Anniversary Gift, Birthday Gift or just something to do on a weekend. The price is perfect for a great experience. Thanks to everyone there!
“Airboat Rides — Lots of Gators” – My family and friends and went on an hour airboat ride and we have a very good experience. The driver showed us many alligators, large and small, and described the many different species of birds. He also would go fast, turn to make it fun for the kids.
The price is very affordable and I will be going again within the next few months with my sister and brother in law.

“Highlight of Trips So Far” – We bring each of out out of town visitors here. The ride is fun, a total Florida “thing to do,” and We love seeing the gators in their natural habitat. The Captains have all been very kind.

“Wow, What a Ride!” – Highly recommend for great family fun. They also have a great bar with live music. Check em out!
“Best Ride of Them All!” – We have been to a bunch of the other airboat places around the area, but this one was the best by far!!!! We had a fantastic ride and saw a ton of gators. It was just a great place to spend a day because we took out airboat ride and then we had some gator bites at the restaurant afterword, after we were done eating they had some live music we could chill out listening to while we had our drinks. Even without the ride our trip would have been awesome. We entertained ourselves for pretty much the whole day. We got our pictures taken with the gator, fed some parrots, they have a HUGE gator and a bunch of other gators we checked out, and then we just wasted the rest of the day drinking our drinks and watching the sunset. Just simply a great time.

“Crohn’s & Colitis Fundraiser supported by the Black Hammock” – I had convinced a few friends to drive over from the Kissimmee area to meet me for a few drinks at one of my favorite bars. They were in love with the place as soon as they stepped out of their car, but had no idea what they were in store for.
The bar had live music and a fundraiser going on, they were supporting the Crohn’s & Colitis foundation and had free food and raffles. We learned that The Black Hammock had donated the space, free food and airboat tickets to be raffled off.
It was nice to see, even in this tough economy people and business are still willing to give back for a great cause.
Needless to say, my friends are more than willing to drive over this way anytime.

“Sunday on the Lake” – My friends and I recently visited Orlando for a weekend getaway and stumbled upon The Black Hammock, just outside of Orlando. Just make sure you have correct directions before you leave. The mapquest directions were not exactly accurate. Once we found this amazing place right on the lake, we continued our weekend of relaxation. We had our pictures taken with their alligator and did a little shopping
We assumed since it was Sunday that we might walk into the building and hear crickets but we figured we’d go ahead and check it out. Much to our surprise we walked in to find a cheerful crowd people coming in for the Sunday 2-for-1 Bloody Marys special, which were the best I have had in a long time. The place was packed and the energy was amazing which made the live band performance awesome, yet relaxing. My Girlfriends and I had so much fun, I’d definitely suggest visiting!!!

“Such a FUN Place!” – A great place to see if you have never been before. Favorite place to hang out with friends! Not very many places have live music around here and lakefront water view! And I love the new tiki torches, it gives a tropical feel!
I believe the restaurant is under different ownership and I don’t think they care as much as the other owner.
Definitely a fun time getting a drink there on the weekend

“Best Airboat Ride in Central Florida” – this is a really unique place, we spent all Sunday
Around 11 am we had an airboat ride, after the ride, we enjoyed
Bloody Mary’s at the Lazy Gator bar. We had lunch at the restaurant and went back over to have our pictures taken with the live gators. The gift shop is full of shirts and souvenirs so you can take a little bit of Florida back home with you.
At 3 pm the band started to play…it was the perfect day
No doubt, I recommend Black Hammock!!
