Insider Tips

Arrive Early

The trails open at sunrise. Morning light is magical through the hammock, the wildlife is most active, and you'll beat the heat. You must leave before sunset — the gate locks.

Bug Spray Is a Must

The wetlands and swamp habitats mean mosquitoes — especially in summer months. Pack strong bug repellent and you'll be much more comfortable.

Just Walk the Boardwalk

Short on time? The boardwalk alone is worth the visit — a stunning quarter-mile path elevated over the floodplain forest, shaded by towering cabbage palms.

Getting There

From The Black Hammock, head east on SR 434 to Deleon Street, then right onto Howard Ave. Drive slowly — it's a rural area with horses and kids on the road. Free parking at the trailhead.

Hike. Ride. Eat.
Stay Wild.

Start on the trails, ride the airboats, unwind at the bar. Black Hammock is where Orlando's wild side comes alive.
